June 20, 2014 – Last week we celebrated breaking ground on the STREAM building and took a very important step towards realizing our vision for STREAM. We were joined by our Board of Trustees, Honorary Trustees, Faculty members, many of our Committee members, as well as donors who have invested in the project. The Groundbreaking was a wonderful celebration of how far we have come and an opportunity for our community to see this project develop into reality.
Attendees enjoyed lunch in the gym with a short program, followed by the groundbreaking ceremony at the STREAM site. The afternoon included remarks from President of the Board of Trustees, Mike Halperin, SAAS Rising Capital Campaign Co-Chair Donna Bellew, and Head of School Joe Puggelli and even a special surprise appearance by a Robotics team robot!
The 35,000-square-foot STREAM Building creates seven new purpose-built laboratories for Upper School science and technology courses in chemistry, biology, physics, and robotics and will also provide flexible space for community building, group collaboration, and student-initiated project work in a two-story Learning Commons. The new facility was designed by Miller Hull and will open in September 2015.
